Mercury Retrograde Brings Mixed Vibes
We’re entering a rather tricky phase in astrology.
Mercury, known as the planet of communication and movement, is about to go retrograde. It will initially drift through Sagittarius, before slipping back into Scorpio.
Beginning on November 9th at 2:01 PM EST, Mercury will officially enter retrograde at 6:51 Sagittarius and then move back into Scorpio on November 18th. The planet will finally go direct on November 29th and reappear in Sagittarius on December 11th. However, its retrograde shadow will linger until December 16th.
Mercury, the fastest planet in our solar system, turns retrograde three to four times a year. If you think about it, combined with the shadow phase, we spend a significant chunk of the year feeling the effects of its slow motion.
During retrograde, it looks like a planet is moving backward through the sky as it retraces its past path.
According to certified astrologer Rachel Ruth Tate, “This time is perfect for questioning, reviewing, and editing. November will surely be a month of ‘guess and check’, especially since Mercury has its challenges in Sagittarius.”
While Mercury isn’t typically linked with romance, that’s more Venus and Mars’ territory, it does influence communication, miscommunications, and the delicate balance of connection versus conflict.
Expect some complications as Mercury descends into Scorpio. Details may get lost, dates could be confused, and spontaneous changes might disrupt plans. Remember to share the same understanding with others that you’d like for yourself. In Scorpio, deep and intimate conversations are likely to surface, so it’s a good time to explore both emotionally and physically.
Tate believes that this last Mercury retrograde of 2025 could lead to pivotal moments for several zodiac signs in their relationships.
There’s a ‘make it or break it’ intensity during this period. Doubts may creep in regarding the future of certain relationships, she adds.
Sagittarius and Gemini
Expect more breakups than breakthroughs for these signs, Tate warns. But remember, not everything that happens during retrograde is permanent; some could just be temporary splits.
Cancer and Leo
These two signs might find that this retrograde allows for some growth in their romantic lives. “Cancers and Leos can reflect on their relationships and thoughtfully navigate the future together,” explains Tate.
It’s about feeling connected but also sometimes distant, almost like moving in sync at different paces.
Taurus and Libra
For those ruled by Venus, there’s some good news. “Taurus and Libra might find themselves busy and even adventurous in the bedroom,” Tate shares. Having a little humor and maybe trying something new could be exciting for them.
During Mercury retrograde, people tend to express themselves in a more clumsy manner. Tate advises focusing on understanding the intention behind others’ words rather than getting caught up in the confusion.
