‘CSI: Miami’ Actress Eva LaRue Opens Up About Alleged 12-Year Stalking Experience

Eva LaRue Reveals Years of Stalking Ordeal

Eva LaRue, known for her role in “CSI: Miami,” has shared a harrowing experience where she and her daughter, Kaya, were stalked for over a decade. The situation escalated to the point where she felt her life was in danger.

In 2007, LaRue received a frightening letter at work from a stalker who made violent threats. Initially, she didn’t think too much of it, possibly even dismissing it as a prank, but what followed was years of torment that she never anticipated.

In the Paramount+ documentary “My Nightmare Stalker: The Story of Eva LaRue,” she described the threats as “the most heinous, the most sickening, the most terrifying” experience she could imagine. One chilling message from the stalker read, “I’m going to kill you both…no one can stop me.”

Things took a more alarming turn when the individual appeared at Kaya’s school, pretending to be her father and attempting to take her away. Despite moving homes several times, the stalker found LaRue’s location, continuing to send more ominous letters.

“I started sleeping with weapons under my bed,” LaRue recounted in the documentary trailer.

The first threatening letter LaRue sent to her publicist contained graphic threats of violence and was ominously signed “Freddy Krueger,” invoking the infamous horror character. At that time, she was navigating single motherhood and initially thought the threats were just someone trying to be shocking.

However, the ongoing letters soon made the reality all too clear. One message ominously stated, “I will instill fear in every part of your life.”

In 2019, the situation became even more dangerous when Kaya received a message at school, indicating someone had called to pick her up, posing as her father. After confirming with her ex-husband, LaRue realized it was a guise of the stalker, who had apparently identified their school.

After enduring years of fear, LaRue finally got some relief when law enforcement made a breakthrough. DNA evidence from one of the letters led to the arrest of a man named James David Rogers in Ohio. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to federal stalking charges and was sentenced to 40 months in prison.

Feeling a sense of freedom afterward, Kaya expressed relief that she could finally live a more normal life. LaRue, who appeared in the documentary to advocate for stronger stalking laws, emphasized that such threats can affect anyone, not just public figures. “We want to help and give hope to everyone who is being stalked,” she stated.
