ICE apprehends Moldovan unlawful immigrant and convicted murderer

DHS Arrests Convicted Murderer in LA

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the arrest of a convicted murderer, identified as Victoria Sorosyan, a Moldovan illegal immigrant. She gained notoriety for torturing her victim and eventually throwing them out of a ninth-story window.

Sorosyan was apprehended in Los Angeles on November 4th, with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) disclosing that she had been convicted of premeditated murder with exceptional cruelty back in 2013.

Authorities report that Sorosyan, alongside an accomplice, committed the brutal act in an apartment in Chisinau, Moldova, where they subjected the victim to severe beatings with sticks and electric wires before discarding them from a high window.

Initially sentenced to 17 years in prison, Sorosyan fled the country to evade her punishment. DHS noted that she had previously been arrested by ICE in January 2020, during the Trump administration, but had filed multiple legal appeals and asylum claims to extend her stay.

Ultimately, she was released into the United States in 2022 under the Biden administration’s policy.

DHS officials emphasized that this situation reflects severe oversights by the previous administration, which, they argue, allowed millions of illegal immigrants—some being violent offenders—to live freely in American neighborhoods.

Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary at DHS, expressed her shock over the Biden administration’s decision to release such dangerous individuals. “It truly shocks the conscience that they have permitted cruel and violent illegal aliens to enter the country,” she stated, referencing their tendency to engage in brutal acts against victims.

Interestingly, McLaughlin pointed out that about 70 percent of ICE arrests involve individuals who have been charged or convicted of crimes. She also noted that the current administration’s policies differ vastly from those of the previous one, which sought to keep such offenders out of the U.S.

Sorosyan will remain in ICE custody while awaiting deportation proceedings.
