On a recent episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” host Joe Rogan expressed concerns about Americans celebrating the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. He suggested this reaction indicates a nation on the verge of civil war.
Following Kirk’s assassination, several individuals were reportedly fired for making comments online that either celebrated the event or criticized Kirk afterward. Rogan mentioned that he would rate the current state of the U.S. around a 7 on a civil war scale, pointing to the public’s celebratory response to Kirk’s murder.
Rogan questioned, “Do you want people who disagree with you to die?” reflecting on the troubling mindset he perceives in society. He further pondered the implications of the public’s reaction, suggesting it could signal a troubling step toward civil unrest.
During the September 11 episode, Rogan and actor Charlie Sheen discussed their reactions. Rogan seemed visibly shaken by the news, while Sheen reacted more emotionally, exclaiming, “Rest in peace! Shit…he doesn’t deserve that. No one deserves it.”
In a separate discussion, historian Heather Cox Richardson noted on her YouTube channel that she hadn’t seen anyone openly celebrating the killing from the left. However, Tom Elliott, founder of Gravure News, shared a compilation showing such reactions, indicating a divide in perceptions about the public response to Kirk’s assassination.
