Jaire Alexander’s Surprising Career Shift

Jaire Alexander’s tumultuous journey has taken yet another unexpected turn.

Recently, the two-time Pro Bowl defensive back let the Eagles know he was stepping away from the team to prioritize his health, according to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer.

Reportedly, Alexander, who is 28, is contemplating retirement from football as he weighs his future options. He has shared these thoughts with the team in recent days, as noted by The Athletic.

Having struggled with injuries over the past few years, including knee surgery this January, the Packers released him in June. They apparently weren’t interested in adjusting the terms of his four-year, $22 million extension he signed in 2022.

Not long after, he inked a one-year deal worth $6 million with the Ravens, but only played in two games for them before being traded to the Eagles on November 1. This was part of a deal that sent a seventh-round pick for 2027 in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2026.

In total, he’s participated in just 16 games across the last three seasons, yet the Eagles expressed confidence about the direction they wanted to take with their secondary after signing him.

When discussing his trade, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman mentioned Alexander being involved in the team discussions, though the future remains uncertain for him.

Recently, Alexander sat out a game against the Packers, dealing with a knee issue, which added to the ongoing questions surrounding his career trajectory.
