Cheryl Hines Talks About Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Scandal in New Memoir
In her newly released memoir, Unscripted, Cheryl Hines subtly touches upon her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s sexting controversy. The 60-year-old actress, known for her role in “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” recalls a vacation in Italy when her husband reached out to inform her of unfolding news.
The situation, she describes, involved “a political journalist” claiming to have had a personal interaction with someone he had previously interviewed. While it seemed vague, it was later confirmed to be about Kennedy.
Last year, it was reported that Olivia Nuzzi, a former reporter for New York Magazine, had been involved in an online affair with Kennedy that lasted nearly a year. According to sources, the two expressed love during their phone calls and even had intimate moments over FaceTime.
A spokesperson for Kennedy stated he met Nuzzi just once, during an interview she requested, which, apparently, was quite successful.
Reflecting on the scandal, Hines admitted that the headlines made her feel insignificant and like it might signify the end for their relationship.
After remaining in Europe for a while longer, she returned home to find Kennedy eager for a conversation, even though she felt distanced from him. In the days that followed, they chose to confront the truth together, discussing their past challenges and what they meant for their relationship. In the end, those conversations helped to strengthen their connection.
On a recent podcast, Hines dismissed Nuzzi’s credibility, humorously noting, “I think you always have to consider the source, right?” She added that they ultimately have to focus on their own relationship.
The couple got married in 2014. This marks Hines’ second marriage and Kennedy’s third. His previous wife, Mary Richardson, tragically passed away following his divorce filing, during which she accused him of being a “sexual deviant.”
Kennedy, whose views have sparked considerable controversy, ran for president before stepping down. Recently, Page Six reported that Nuzzi is working on a book that will contain intimate messages exchanged with Kennedy.
