Trump welcomes children in the Oval Office, stating 'I am Donald'

President Donald Trump took a moment from his busy schedule in the Oval Office to welcome visiting children, share some small gifts, and introduced himself with, “My name is Donald.” This cute interaction was captured and shared online by communications adviser Margo Martin.

The short clip quickly gained traction, amassing hundreds of thousands of views shortly after being posted. It brought a lighthearted moment amid a flurry of news, especially concerning the recent end of the government shutdown, allowing both supporters and critics to see a different side of the president.

In fact, the video reached nearly 500,000 views within just two hours on Martin’s X account, where she often shares unique behind-the-scenes moments featuring Trump.

During the clip, an off-camera voice prompts the president, asking the children for their names.

Trump, laughing, responds, “My name is Donald.”

In this heartwarming scene, he offers challenge coins to the grandchildren of journalist Salena Zito, who had come by the Oval Office for a visit. The White House confirmed that the children were just stopping by to say hello.

This is just the latest instance of Trump engaging with younger fans, reminiscent of his interactions during the Easter Egg Roll earlier this year. He has a total of 11 grandchildren, which perhaps adds to his friendly demeanor.

As one viewer noted, “This is like grandpa doing grandpa things.” Another chimed in with, “Kindness transcends politics,” accompanied by a folded hands emoji.

Such sincere interactions often dominate social media, easily cutting through the usual news cycle and providing the White House considerable digital outreach.

As the video wraps up, Trump offers Zito’s grandchildren a pen, cheerfully asking, “Okay, do you want a pen?” adding, “One of them. One, two, three.”
