Virginia prosecutor accused of hindering the investigation into alleged threats against Trump aide Stephen Miller faces House inquiry

Investigation Launched into Virginia Prosecutor by House Judiciary Committee Chairman

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan has initiated an investigation into a Virginia prosecutor amid allegations of bias towards a left-wing activist under scrutiny for making threats against Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and his family.

Jordan’s inquiry into U.S. Attorney Parisa Deghani-Tafti for Arlington County follows a local judge’s recent ruling that restricted state law enforcement’s investigations concerning a woman accused of distributing threatening pamphlets and making unsettling gestures towards Miller’s wife, Katie, in Northern Virginia.

In a letter, Jordan pointed out that on October 2, 2025, Deghani-Tafti appeared to favor the defense’s position by requesting the judge to limit the search warrant and the information state police could relay to the FBI. He claimed this request was quite extraordinary and raised concerns about obstructing the investigation into the threats directed at the Miller family.

The Millers decided to sell their home in Arlington due to escalating concerns. This followed incidents involving 66-year-old Barbara Wien, who allegedly displayed signs stating “No Nazis on Nova” in the neighborhood, and a disturbing flyer that contained Miller’s likeness with a red cross and his home address.

Moreover, the flyer featured a QR code linking to the activist group Arlington Neighbors United for Humanity (ANUFH), a group Jordan suggested Deghani-Tafti supports.

These flyers were distributed on September 11, coinciding with the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. On the same day, Wien reportedly gestured towards Katie Miller while she sat on her porch, which some interpreted as a menacing sign that he was closely monitoring them.

Pursuing clarity in this matter, Jordan has given prosecutors until November 27 to provide relevant documents associated with his claims.

Following the denial of two FBI requests for search warrants related to the case, the Millers filed a complaint with Virginia State Police, which led to Deghani-Tafti becoming involved. Wien has not faced arrest, and the investigation was aimed at determining if any laws had been violated.

In his correspondence, Jordan emphasized that the Miller family deserves protection just like any other American family, particularly in light of the recent rise in political violence against Republicans. He expressed particular concern over a Virginia attorney general making alarming comments regarding political opponents.

Deghani-Tafti’s office has yet to publicly respond to requests for comments regarding the situation.
