Bengals' Joe Flacco states he is not concerned about Joe Burrow's comeback

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is back at practice, but it seems veteran backup Joe Flacco isn’t overly concerned about the change. Burrow’s return means Flacco has roughly three weeks to adjust, but he appears unfazed by the news.

Flacco commented, “I don’t know, but I think the reserves probably do a pretty good job of knowing, ‘Hey, this guy’s going to come back, it’s a three-week injury or something.'” He continued to say he’s not letting Burrow’s impending return distract him, as his focus remains firmly on the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Burrow had injured his toe back in September, which led the team to start backup quarterback Jake Browning. Unfortunately, Browning struggled, prompting the Bengals to bring in Flacco from the Cleveland Browns.

Flacco, who had a tough stint with the Browns, has actually performed quite well as Burrow’s replacement. In his four starts for the Bengals, he completed about 64.7% of his passes, notching 1,254 yards along with 11 touchdowns and just two interceptions. To put that in perspective, he only managed 58.1% completion and had a much lower yardage and higher interception rate during his time with the Browns.

Even though Flacco has played well, the Bengals have only managed to win one of those games out of four. They sit at 3-6 right now, and there’s quite a bit of pressure for them to turn things around if they want to keep playoff hopes alive.

The Bengals’ next matchup is crucial, as they face the Steelers (5-4) this Sunday at 1:00 pm ET.
