Romantic Revelations: Olivia Nuzzi Talks About Her Time with RFK Jr.
A political reporter, Olivia Nuzzi, who allegedly had a romantic relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during his presidential campaign, is sharing her experiences. Nuzzi, who was let go from New York Magazine last year due to her controversial reporting, spoke with The New York Times in advance of her upcoming book, American Canto. In it, she expresses support for Donald Trump and reflects on her feelings for Kennedy before he appointed her as the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Nuzzi described her affection for Kennedy, mentioning his “blue as flames” eyes and his ability to cry at mundane things like a rose. She recounted how he called her ‘Livvy’, wrote her a poem, and even expressed a desire for her to have his child, claiming he’d take a bullet for her.
In her conversation with the Times, Nuzzi noted that she had not been in touch with Kennedy for over a year and opted not to discuss his actions during the Trump administration. When asked about their past, she quipped, “Maybe it’s the vaccine.”
Kennedy’s representatives have not yet responded to requests for comments. A spokesperson had previously denied any physical relationship between them, stating that he had only met Nuzzi once.
Reportedly, Nuzzi first met Kennedy while covering his independent presidential run in late 2023. She clarified that while they didn’t have physical interactions, they did share personal communications. It’s also noteworthy that Kennedy is still married to actress Cheryl Hines.
The so-called “sexting” controversy also affected Nuzzi’s engagement to Ryan Rizza, who previously worked at Politico. Following the allegations, New York Magazine terminated Nuzzi and conducted an investigation, ultimately finding no inaccuracies in her reporting. Recently, Vanity Fair announced her appointment as their West Coast editor.
While Nuzzi shared her story, the political ramifications and personal entanglements continue to linger. It’s just a reminder, I suppose, of how complicated relationships can become intertwined with public lives.
