Trump rescinds support for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene following Epstein remarks

Trump Withdraws Support for Marjorie Taylor Greene

On Friday, President Trump retracted his endorsement of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, labeling the Georgia Republican as “bizarre” and “lunatic” for her calls for the government to release documents related to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

“I am withdrawing my endorsement and endorsement of Georgia’s ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene,” he announced.

The president expressed frustration that Greene had been vocal about her discontent with his administration in recent weeks, despite her previous support for him. “You can see that ‘weird’ Marjorie complains, complains, complains!” Trump noted.

Greene, who once strongly backed the president, has recently diverged from him on various issues. For instance, she has voiced support for maintaining health insurance subsidies tied to the Affordable Care Act, set to expire at the end of December, and has urged the Justice Department to release the so-called Epstein files.

Trump suggested that Greene’s shift in behavior began after he advised her against running for higher office, citing a poll that revealed her low approval rating. “Her approval rating was 12%, and she didn’t have a chance unless she had my support,” he remarked.

He also indicated that Greene’s constant attempts to reach him were wearing thin. “She’s told a lot of people that she’s upset I don’t return her calls anymore. But with 219 congressmen/women, 53 U.S. senators, 24 Cabinet members, in almost 200 countries, I simply can’t take calls from someone who rants every day,” he added.

President Trump mentioned his hopes for a more aligned Republican candidate to emerge in Greene’s district for the upcoming 2026 midterm elections, noting, “I understand that some fine conservative people are thinking of primarying Marjorie. They, too, are tired of her and her antics.”

Greene has joined a handful of House Republicans in supporting a petition led by Rep. Thomas Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna to enforce a vote on making unclassified documents related to Epstein public.

While Trump has dismissed the Epstein scandal as a Democratic “hoax,” he recently stated he would urge the Justice Department and FBI to investigate Epstein’s connections with various public figures.

In response to Trump’s withdrawal of support, Greene released private text messages exchanged with him. “President Trump attacked me and lied about me,” she stated. “I haven’t called him at all, but I texted him today.”

Her messages included calls for Trump to check Epstein’s flight records, emphasizing Bill Clinton’s reported frequent use of the plane. Greene has publicly insisted that the Trump administration should disclose Epstein’s files “for the sake of the women who were victims” and to probe any Democratic connections to Epstein.

“Epstein was a deep state spider. Get in there!” Greene implored. She expressed her disbelief that Trump would use the expulsion petition as a means to intimidate other Republicans. “It’s really amazing how hard he’s fighting to stop the Epstein files from being leaked,” she added.

Greene concluded by stating her dedication to Trump, asserting, “I have spent far too much of my precious time and my own money supporting President Trump and fighting harder for him… But I don’t worship or serve Donald Trump.”
