Bee Advocates for Stronger Attacks on MAGA

Comedian Samantha Bee, who previously hosted a late-night show on TBS, urged Stacey Abrams to take a more aggressive stance against MAGA supporters. During her appearance on Abrams’ podcast, assembly required, Bee suggested that civility has little value in the current political climate dominated by Trump.

Abrams noted how Bee’s comedic approach aligns with Roxanne Gay’s assertion that the MAGA right expects the left to remain civil, which Gay describes as an illusion. “When people’s rights and lives are under threat, we don’t have to play nice,” Abrams emphasized.

Bee concurred, labeling political civility as “worthless.” She expressed frustration with the expectation to be quiet and compromising. “If you’re giving up everything while those in power remain unchanged, civility just feels worthless,” she added.

“Sometimes, you just have to stand up and scream. Even if it doesn’t change anything, at least it brings some catharsis to those who share your feelings,” Bee said, underscoring her belief that civility is overrated.

She argued for a stronger leftist discourse without advocating for actual violence. Additionally, Bee called on the wealthy to speak out against injustices. “What’s the point of having money if you aren’t willing to use it for good?” she exclaimed, urging those with financial power to take a stand.

However, Bee’s call for a non-violent approach stands in contrast to her earlier comments suggesting that liberals should confront conservative figures like Justice Samuel Alito aggressively in public settings.
