Jon Voight Raises Concerns Over NYC’s Political Future

Jon Voight, the Oscar-winning actor, voiced serious concerns about the political trajectory of New York City in a video he released recently. He claims that incoming mayor Zoran Mamdani poses a significant threat to the country’s largest city, suggesting that only former President Donald Trump can alleviate what he calls a “horror.”

In his message shared on social media, Voight warned that Mamdani risks “destroying the city that never sleeps” and could turn it into a “place of forbidden darkness.” He emphasized that this mayor, at just 35 years old, should not dictate policies that he believes are contrary to the city’s foundational values.

“This mayor will destroy this city,” Voight stated emphatically. He expressed that citizens have a responsibility to protect their rights regarding their businesses and properties, which they have worked tirelessly to maintain. He argued that Mamdani has no right to impose what he views as socialism on a city built by hardworking Americans.

Voight further urged New Yorkers to resist Mamdani’s leadership, labeling him a threat to their core values. He seemed particularly passionate, insisting that the people of New York are at risk of losing their city to what he referred to as a “communist fool.” His call to action underscored a larger national pride, invoking the essence of American ideals.

“This country is the home of our greatest achievement: the American Dream,” Voight stated. He passionately voiced confidence in Trump, asserting that Mamdani is eroding the wealth of New York and transforming it into a less desirable city, reiterating that Trump is the only one who can “stop this horror.”

Concluding his message, Voight emphasized the urgency of his warning, saying, “And God bless you.” His comments come in the wake of Mamdani’s victory over independent candidate Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa in the recent New York mayoral election.

The political landscape in New York City appears divided, as reactions range widely. While some celebrities, including Cynthia Nixon from “Sex and the City,” celebrated Mamdani’s win, others, like actor Michael Rapaport, criticized him for perceived inconsistencies in his lifestyle and political stance.

This ongoing discourse reflects not just the polarization within the city but also the varying perspectives on the future of its governance.
