Several officers injured by gunfire in Kansas; investigation underway

Investigation Launched Following Fatal Shooting of Kansas Officers

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is looking into a tragic incident where multiple law enforcement officers were shot during a domestic violence call in Osage County on Saturday. This event unfolded around 10:30 a.m. at a residence located north of Carbondale.

According to KBI officials, law enforcement had been on the scene for several minutes before the shooting erupted. Reports indicate that three Osage County sheriff’s deputies along with a Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) trooper sustained injuries. The suspect, a man, was reportedly killed at the scene while another individual was injured but is currently in stable condition.

During a news conference, Col. Eric Smith mentioned that the injured deputies and the trooper were taken to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. Interestingly, the trooper was later moved to a Kansas City hospital for further treatment.

While the identity of the deceased suspect has not yet been disclosed, authorities have assured the public that there is no active threat. Additionally, the Topeka Police Department confirmed via social media that their officers were dispatched to the scene and none were injured in the process.

This shooting incident has left many in the community shocked, and the investigation is ongoing.
