Investigation Underway for Secret Bathroom Recordings at Virginia High School

A student at a Loudoun County, Virginia high school is currently being investigated for allegedly recording other students in the bathroom without their knowledge. In late April, Tanya Brown, the principal of Freedom High School, reached out to parents to inform them that a report had been made regarding a student recording another student in the restroom, and that law enforcement was looking into the matter.

Brown followed up with another message to families last week, indicating that it seems this incident might not be an isolated case. She encouraged anyone who might have more information to contact the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a report from 7 News reporter Nick Minnock, multiple sources have indicated the student involved in the recordings is transgender and could have filmed over 40 potential victims in the past three years.

A spokesperson for Loudoun County Public Schools confirmed that they are cooperating with the Sheriff’s Office in the ongoing investigation but noted that there are limitations on the details they can disclose. Interestingly, the school district appears to have refuted claims about the student’s gender identity.

In a statement, the school district emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, stressing that they are committed to transparency while respecting the privacy rights of everyone involved. They also clarified that no reports have been made about students being in restrooms that do not align with their biological sex.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is actively looking into the situation but has yet to verify the number of alleged victims. This incident adds to an ongoing series of controversies surrounding the Northern Virginia School District, known for its policies allowing students to choose restrooms and locker rooms that correspond with their gender identity.

Currently, the district is engaged in a legal dispute with the parents of two students who were suspended last year for questioning the presence of a transgender student in the boys’ locker room.
