Father in Michigan Charged with Killing Three Sons Who Disappeared in 2010

Charges Filed in Disappearance of Michigan Father’s Sons

A Michigan father was charged on Wednesday with the murder of his three young sons, who vanished 15 years ago.

The man, John Skelton, had children Andrew, age 9, Alexander, age 7, and Tanner, age 5, who went missing on Thanksgiving Day in 2010. The children have never been found, as reported on Thursday.

Court records from Lenawee County indicate that the charges came just days before Skelton was set to be released after serving 15 years for not returning his children to their mother. At the time of the boys’ disappearance, their parents were living apart.

After the boys didn’t return home, their mother reported them missing, which led to police issuing an Amber Alert.

While Skelton was caring for the boys in Morenci, he allegedly misled authorities about their location, even sending them on fruitless searches across various sites.

The families of the boys released a statement following the charges against Skelton, expressing their ongoing pain and hope for answers:

“It’s been 15 years since our sons, Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner went missing. Our family has endured unimaginable heartache and questions, all while holding onto the hope that we might someday know the truth about what happened.”

“Our main focus has always been on uncovering what happened to our boys and finding justice for them. We hope the investigation proceeds without hindrance to uncover the truth.”

Earlier this year, a Lenawee County judge declared the brothers legally dead. Their mother, Tanya Zvers, explained that she sought this declaration to honor her sons and aid her in finding closure.
