Draymond Green Involved in Altercation with Fan

During the second quarter of a game in New Orleans on Sunday, Draymond Green found himself in a heated exchange with a fan who repeatedly called him “Angel Reese.”

Video footage captured Green striking a fan, later identified as Sam Green, 35. This incident occurred amid the Warriors’ 124-106 win against the Pelicans. Green approached the fan and after a brief confrontation, they had a verbal sparring match until teammate Brandin Podzemski and an official intervened.

Sam Green, who was sitting courtside, appeared to enjoy the confrontation, smiling as he chatted with another fan nearby even when security approached him.

He openly admitted to provoking Draymond by taunting him with remarks related to his performance, claiming he hadn’t taken any shots and only managed a few rebounds at that point. “I thought it was funny at first,” he said, but acknowledged that continuously calling him a woman crossed a line. “I have four kids, one on the way. So, you know, that just felt off.”

According to Draymond Green, the fan initially had quite a bit to say but fell silent as their altercation escalated. Sam Green claimed he threatened to retaliate if Draymond kept responding to his jibes and stated that the player used profanity towards him.

“I wasn’t cursing or anything, but it was unsettling when he walked off the court to get in my face,” Sam Green commented.

Despite the incident, fans in the area were permitted to remain in their seats, though they received warnings from arena staff.

Later, Draymond mentioned he had discussed the matter with officials and expressed that they told him to let them manage the situation. “I’ll make sure to handle the matter so you don’t face any consequences,” he noted.

In the game, Draymond Green ended up with eight points out of 13 attempts, alongside 10 rebounds and six assists.
