Denise Richards Discusses Permanent Restraining Order Against Ex-Husband

Denise Richards has been on what she describes as “good” behavior following the issuance of a permanent restraining order against her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers.

During the recent BravoCon event, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star shared an update on her situation. “It’s a process,” the 54-year-old said at the Bravo2Bravo panel, expressing gratitude for her “amazing support system.”

Richards opened up about the challenges of navigating a public breakup, labeling it as “very daunting.” She mentioned how reality television complicates things, stating that, “In reality, you can’t pretend it’s not happening.”

In July, Richards filed for divorce from Phypers, 53, and later accused him of “frequent” and “violent” abuse.

Phypers has consistently denied her allegations. According to the terms of the restraining order, he must maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Richards and her workplace until November 7, 2030. He expressed his disappointment when the Los Angeles Superior Court judge’s decision did not go his way.

“I know the truth. This may be hidden for a while. I’m going to reset it a little, but it’s okay,” he stated.

Initially, Richards had been granted a temporary restraining order on July 16. In October, during a multi-day hearing, she sought to have that order extended and provided emotional testimony. Phypers’ cousin, Kathleen McAllister, also supported Richards’ claims of abuse during her testimony.

Earlier this month, Phypers faced serious charges related to domestic violence, including two felony counts for injuring a spouse and two for intimidating a witness.

After posting a $200,000 bail, he was released a few hours later. Throughout the ongoing divorce proceedings, there have also been cross-accusations; Phypers has alleged infidelity and drug use on Richards’ part, allegations that she firmly denies.

The tumultuous legal battle continues as both parties navigate their difficult separation.
