Greene Responds to Trump’s “Traitor” Remark

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, reacted sharply on Tuesday after President Donald Trump labeled her a “traitor.” This comment came after she criticized his foreign policy and declined to remove her name from a petition aimed at releasing documents related to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In a press conference featuring Epstein’s victims, Greene defended her stance, calling herself a “patriot” for supporting those affected by Epstein’s trafficking activities and advocating for America First policies. She expressed her frustration: “I was called a traitor by a man I fought for over five years, fully committing to him without expectation… I owe him nothing, yet I stood for him and for these women, and this is how I’m repaid,” she stated.

Greene articulated her view of treachery: “A traitor is someone who serves a foreign power or personal interests. A patriot serves the United States and its people, like the women behind me.”

On Friday, Trump indicated he was withdrawing his support for Greene, citing her “antics” and suggesting he might back challengers against her in the upcoming Georgia primary.

In a recent interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Greene shared her disappointment at Trump’s response regarding the Epstein files. She noted that his shift was primarily due to this issue: “It all came down to the Epstein file, which is shocking. I stand with these women, the rape victims, the children in abusive situations, and survivors of human trafficking, and I don’t apologize for that.”

On Saturday, Trump referred to Greene as “Lightweight Rep. Marjorie Taylor Brown” in a post on Truth Social, accusing her of betraying the Republican Party as a so-called Republican in Name Only (RINO).

Additionally, Greene revealed that she had received threats against her safety, which she attributed to rhetoric “fueled and incited by some of the most powerful individuals.”
