Trump Hosts Law Enforcement Dinner for Police Week
President Donald Trump is set to welcome members of major law enforcement agencies to the Rose Garden this evening in honor of Police Week and to remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty, according to recent reports.
During the event, Trump is expected to deliver a speech, with several key figures from his administration in attendance, including Vice President J.D. Vance and the border czar. Other notable attendees include Tom Homan, Army Secretary Pete Hegseth, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.
Various organizations will be represented at the dinner, such as the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO), the National Sheriffs Association, and the D.C. Police Union, among others. NAPO, which represents over 1,000 police departments, has a membership of around 241,000 law enforcement officers.
White House Press Secretary Abigail Jackson commented on the dinner, stating, “The men and women of law enforcement are American heroes who risk their lives to keep our communities safe. They have had no stronger champion than President Trump and his administration. The White House looks forward to honoring these heroes and celebrating all they have done for our country as we begin Police Week.”
National Police Week runs from May 10 to May 16, featuring significant events in Washington, D.C., dedicated to honoring those who died while serving. The week typically attracts thousands to the nation’s capital.
As part of these commemorations, police officers will take part in a candlelight vigil on Wednesday, May 13.
The National Fraternal Order of Police, which will also participate in the dinner, is set to hold a memorial service for peace officers during this week. More details are available on their event website.
In addition to the previously mentioned officials, other attendees of the dinner include the Fraternal Order of State Police, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, various county sheriffs, and representatives from the Metropolitan Mayors Association, among others.
Additional administration figures joining the event include Sean Curran, Director of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and Terry Cole, Chief of the U.S. Marshals Service, among others.
