Seth Meyers Mocks Trump’s Comments About His Show
On Monday, comedian Seth Meyers took a jab at President Trump’s demand for NBC to remove him from its programming, adding another layer to their ongoing back-and-forth.
“When you accuse me of Trump Derangement Syndrome, I take that diagnosis seriously, because you are clearly a medical professional, as you can see from my recent MRI scan description,” Meyers said during his “Late Night” segment.
Meyers highlighted Trump’s remarks made on Air Force One regarding an MRI performed during a routine checkup, stating, “I don’t know what they analyzed, but whatever they analyzed, they analyzed it well.”
On Saturday, Trump took to Truth Social to label Meyers as suffering from an “incurable disease called Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).” He claimed, “He went into an uncontrollable rage last night, probably due to the fact that his ‘show’ is a ratings disaster. Apart from everything else, Myers has no talent whatsoever. NBC should fire him immediately!”
Meyers responded humorously, saying, “Guys! My name is on TV! It doesn’t happen very often. You rarely hear Seth Meyers’ name on TV before midnight.”
He also critiqued Trump’s use of the phrase “seen last night,” saying, “I’m sure you’ve heard this many times from your English teachers over the years, but what is the passive voice?”
A long-time critic of Trump, Meyers recently faced backlash from the president for poking fun at Trump’s comments regarding magnets and catapults on aircraft carriers.
Trump has made similar comments aimed at various late-night hosts, recently supporting CBS’ decision to cancel “The Last Show with Stephen Colbert” next year and criticizing ABC for reinstating Jimmy Kimmel’s appearance.
Meyers attempted to downplay his animosity Monday, stating he had “no problem with the president expressing displeasure on my show.” He added, “That’s his right, and many nights he has his say.”
He humorously noted that Trump’s new nickname for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, “Marjorie Traitor Greene,” is “much cooler” than calling her “Seth Marble Myers.”
