Brandon Lake’s Concert in San Jose: A Remarkable Success

Christian artist Brandon Lake is making waves, filling venues in areas that aren’t typically known for embracing faith-driven music. His messages, deeply rooted in a Christian worldview, resonate with many, and his concerts are selling out—just like the one in San Jose recently.

This past Sunday, Lake performed to a crowd of around 15,000 at the SAP Center, a venue usually buzzing with excitement from hockey fans. It’s an impressive feat for a Christian artist in an area often considered a liberal stronghold.

Lake addressed the audience, stating, “Tonight isn’t about me. It’s about one man—his name is Jesus.” This sentiment captures the essence of his performances, which focus on faith rather than personal fame.

Currently on his 48-city King of Hearts tour, Lake’s energetic music stretches from Florida to California, highlighting that Christian music holds broader national appeal beyond niche audiences. The show features Fulani Cash as an opening act.

Music critic Jim Harrington attended the San Jose concert and shared his thoughts. He remarked that Lake’s success is particularly noteworthy considering the audience came from the heart of the Bay Area, known for its lack of religious engagement. Harrington noted, “This 35-year-old artist is probably achieving more box office success than anyone in the Christian contemporary music scene has before.”

He also compared the sound of one of Lake’s songs to that of the Foo Fighters, pointing out how Lake can seamlessly shift from grand rock star moments to intimate interactions with the audience.

At one point during the show, Lake ventured into the crowd to pray with attendees and later encouraged others to accept Christ. Many responded, raising their hands in prayer.

Harrington highlighted how Lake’s versatility allows him to meld different genres, from pop and rock to hip-hop, showcased in his collaborations with L.A.-based Schema Boy.

“It felt like a revival,” Lake expressed to the crowd, reflecting on the significant turnout in San Jose.
