First Lady Melania Trump and Usha Vance Visit Military Families

First Lady Melania Trump, along with second daughter Usha Vance, made their initial joint appearance on Wednesday, reaching out to military families in North Carolina to express gratitude for their service as the holiday season approaches.

They visited Camp Lejeune, which is the largest Marine Corps base on the East Coast, as well as Marine Corps Air Station New River, accompanied by Vice President J.D. Vance, who is also a former Marine.

During the visit, they stopped by Lejeune High School where Vice President Vance interacted with students and took part in discussions about timely subjects like artificial intelligence and social media trends.

President Trump shared a few brief words at the local gymnasium, where he expressed appreciation for the families who have lost loved ones in service.

“I want to thank you all, because you are the military families that keep our country safe. We truly appreciate your service,” President Trump said. “My husband sends you his best wishes. We’re both thinking of you, especially as the holidays approach.”

Following their time at Camp Lejeune, Melania and Usha were scheduled to stop by Delario Elementary School before making their way to the Mega Hangar at Marine Corps Air Station New River, where they planned to deliver speeches to service members and their families.

The President’s comments were geared toward honoring the Marine Corps’ 250 years of dedication, recognizing the vital role military families play, and acknowledging the increasing focus on technologies like artificial intelligence.
