Marco Rubio Criticizes 'Clown' Cuban Diplomat Supporting Venezuelan Drug Trafficking

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio shared a clown GIF on Tuesday following Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla being labeled a “corrupt and compulsive liar” by communist officials.

Rodríguez Parrilla increased his criticism of Rubio, posting on social media about the supposed lies coming from the U.S. State Department. He claimed that under Rubio’s guidance, the State Department was using falsehoods to justify military action against Venezuela.

“Everyone is watching, and with the media’s backing, they are normalizing and rationalizing attacks on sovereign nations,” Rodríguez Parrilla’s post stated.

He further accused the U.S. of trying to implicate Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in drug trafficking and terrorism—issues he argued have been encouraged by U.S. officials and politicians in Florida advocating for interventions in Venezuela.

Rubio’s response to the accusations included the clown GIF, seemingly dismissive.

The Cuban regime, aligned with Maduro’s government, contends that the U.S. is plotting an “invasion” to overthrow Maduro and seize Venezuela’s natural resources.

Iván Gil, Venezuela’s Foreign Minister, expressed gratitude towards Cuba for its supportive message on Maduro’s official site. He thanked Cuba for confronting what he described as the “despicable behavior” of the U.S. Secretary of State.

According to Gil, this strategy is merely a distraction from U.S. corruption, where drug trafficking and terrorism are seen as critical issues. He stated that Venezuela and Cuba would persist in defending their sovereignty and the right to self-determination.

Rodríguez Parrilla has been vocal in making allegations against Rubio, particularly in light of recent U.S. military operations in the Caribbean aimed at combating drug cartels.

Last week, he accused Rubio of misleading G7 nations to justify military presence in the Caribbean, portraying Venezuela as a supposed threat to the U.S.

Rodríguez Parrilla previously stated that the U.S. is fabricating lies to rationalize a massive military buildup, which he claims involves unlawful actions on the high seas, violating international law.

He pointed out that China is reverting to the outdated Monroe Doctrine, urging its allies to avoid interference in the Americas.

In October, Rodríguez Parrilla criticized Rubio, suggesting that the U.S. military presence in the Caribbean stemmed from Rubio’s personal agenda. Cuban officials assert that he promotes policies that stray from the supposed peace initiatives of President Trump.

Notably, Rodríguez Parrilla remarked that Rubio, who has Cuban roots but has never visited the country, is advancing his personal interests at the expense of U.S. national goals.

Rubio is a Cuban-American who grew up in a community that the Castro regime viewed as an illicit entity.

In October, the State Department initiated a campaign on social media aimed at countering the long-standing Cuban claim that the U.S. “embargo” is at fault for the nation’s struggles. They argued it stems from decades of ineffective communist leadership. Prior to the upcoming 2025 United Nations General Assembly, they pushed for an end to the “embargo.”

The U.S. and Israel have historically opposed U.N. resolutions targeting the “embargo,” but this year saw nations like Israel, Argentina, Hungary, Paraguay, North Macedonia, and Ukraine joining the U.S. in voting against it.
