Cam Skattebo criticized by former NFL safety T.J. Ward over WWE altercation

TJ Ward Reacts to Kam Skatebo’s WWE Appearance

TJ Ward has joined the conversation about Kam Skatebo’s controversial involvement with WWE.

Shortly after the injured Giants rookie had a troubling moment on “Monday Night Raw,” the former Super Bowl-winning safety, who played for the Broncos, sharply criticized Skatebo. The running back’s promising rookie season was cut short due to a significant ankle injury.

Ward, 38, made a pointed remark, saying, “This is how you cut your NFL career short,” while sharing a post that showcased Skatebo’s WWE appearance.

Skatebo, known for his aggressive playing style, made waves this week at Madison Square Garden when he teamed up with Dominik Mysterio, who had recently taken a jab at comedian Andrew Schultz.

Mysterio quipped, “The only good thing coming out of New York City is standing right in front of you. The only championship New York has ever seen…does it count, Cam? What year? He doesn’t know. He can’t count.”

With his Giants teammates, including prominent pick Abdul Carter, Skatebo then confronted J.D. McDonough, ultimately shoving the Judgment Day star.

It’s been some time since Skatebo was carted off after dislocating his ankle and fracturing his fibula during a game against the Eagles on October 26. Yet, the backlash against his WWE stunt quickly followed.

Chris McMonigle commented, “You have nice feet, brother,” during a segment on WFAN. He expressed uncertainty about Skatebo’s actions, emphasizing that while it might seem fun for a young player to engage with wrestling fans, it’s concerning given his recent injury.

Ward, who also played for the Buccaneers and Browns during his eight NFL seasons, reflected on the potential influence of his comments regarding Skatebo.

“Most people wouldn’t understand because you’re just here for entertainment. I actually care. #staysafe,” he noted in a follow-up post.

On the other hand, Skatebo appears unfazed by the criticism as he recovers from his injury. He stated, “Yeah, honestly, if you don’t like me having a good time while dealing with tough times, go ahead and unfollow me.”

“Since I can’t play football and enjoy the things I’ve always loved, I’m trying to explore new things that make me happy,” he continued. “Enjoy the rest of your week. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t talk about me.”

In his eight games this season, Skatebo rushed for 410 yards and five touchdowns while also accumulating 207 receiving yards and two additional scores.
