Connecticut Paraprofessional Admits to Sexual Assault of Minor

A former school paraprofessional from Connecticut has confessed to sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy after sending him around 5,000 unsettling emails and pressuring him into giving her gifts like Apple AirPods and caffeinated drinks.

Allison Kranik pleaded guilty to federal charges related to coercion and enticing the sexual performance of minors, as announced by the U.S. District Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

The 44-year-old, who is married and a mother of two, targeted the boy over several months in 2022, taking him to various locations where he was coerced into engaging in sexually explicit acts.

Previously employed as an administrative assistant at E.O. Smith High School in Mansfield, Kranik was terminated in September 2023.

Investigators found that she met the child at least 14 times, and in some instances, school staff facilitated his sneaking out after midnight.

She took him to places like Columbia Lake, Horace Porter School in Columbia, and Salmon River State Forest in Colchester, where the assaults occurred in her vehicle. During these late-night incidents, Kranik provided the boy with caffeinated beverages to keep him awake and gave him gifts such as a pellet gun and AirPods.

Kranik initially contacted the boy through text and Snapchat but later suggested they chat on Discord, a popular messaging platform.

She explained to the police that she switched messaging apps upon realizing a family member of the boy would be monitoring his communications.

Between July and October 2022, it was reported that Kranik and the boy exchanged approximately 4,700 messages on Discord.

Seemingly, she crafted a bracelet for the boy featuring the acronym “BFFLWB,” which stands for “Best Friend for Life, Benefits Available,” according to court documents.

Eventually, the boy ceased his communication with her, reportedly feeling emotionally manipulated by Kranik’s insistence on spending more time together.

Initially, Kranik denied any wrongdoing and downplayed any inappropriate nature of her conversations with the boy.

In September 2023, a criminal investigation into her alleged sexual misconduct began.

She was arrested by state law enforcement in November 2023.

Kranik faced federal charges in July 2024, following an extensive investigation by the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force and the Connecticut State Police’s Eastern District Major Crimes Unit.

She could face a life sentence if convicted, with a minimum of 10 years in prison. Her sentencing is set for February 12, 2026.
