Minka Kelly spoke warmly about her boyfriend, Dan Reynolds, on The Drew Barrymore Show, just a day after she had somewhat awkwardly deflected a similar question from Jenna Bush Hager.
During the Wednesday interview, Barrymore asked if the Imagine Dragons frontman, who is 38, had read Kelly’s memoir, “Tell Me Everything.”
The 45-year-old actress revealed that Reynolds had actually read her book before they met face-to-face.
She explained that they had been texting and FaceTiming through a mutual friend when she mentioned submitting a manuscript.
He expressed interest in reading it, causing Kelly to think, “Well, here you go. It could either scare him off or he might appreciate it.”
Fortunately, she said, he leaned toward the latter, and this shared experience helped to bring them even closer.
Barrymore chimed in with a lighthearted comment, “How great would it be if we all had a record of our lives?”
Kelly and the Grammy winner officially went public with their relationship in 2022, but they generally maintain privacy about their romantic life.
That said, the “Friday Night Lights” star did share a heartfelt post on Instagram praising Reynolds during the summer.
In that post, she shared that “this beautiful man healed the hurt in me that he didn’t inflict, just by being himself,” praising his “vulnerable, honest, loving masculinity.”
Kelly elaborated, “His compassion, priorities, values, and integrity are all rooted in love. Thank you for loving me and blessing my life in ways I never imagined.”
She concluded with, “Dan, I love you. Happy birthday. Now let’s dance!”
However, when Bush Hager probed about a recent social media post, Kelly seemed caught off guard. She simply stated, “I feel very lucky,” describing Reynolds as “a really good person.”
Recognizing the shift in mood, Bush Hager responded, “Okay, I guess you don’t want to talk about it. That’s fine.”
Guest host Olivia Munn also chimed in, sharing stories from her collaboration with Reynolds on his band’s project, the “Cutthroat” music video, back in 2021.
Before dating Kelly, Reynolds was married to Aja Volkman, and they share four children. Kelly’s past relationships have included notable figures like comedian Trevor Noah and actor Jesse Williams.
