JD Vance Highlights Significant Wage Increases While Addressing Affordability Issues

According to Vice President J.D. Vance, President Donald Trump’s economic policies have led to an increase in wages for Americans, roughly $1,200 per person.

“Wages are significantly outpacing inflation,” Vance shared during a discussion with Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle at a policy event. “In the three years of the Biden administration, the average worker actually lost about $3,000 in take-home pay. However, in the first ten months of the Trump economy, adjusting for inflation, take-home pay rose by about $1,200. That’s a pretty big deal.”

He highlighted another key issue, stating, “And this is crucial… job growth is benefiting American-born workers. In contrast, during the Biden administration, despite job growth, nearly all net jobs created went to foreign-born individuals.”

“What I take the most pride in about the Trump economy is that American jobs are being filled by American workers who are eager for change,” he added.

Vance’s comments came alongside some positive economic indicators for October. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported:

The average hourly wage for private nonfarm payroll employees increased by 9 cents, or 0.2%, reaching $36.67 in September. Over the past year, average hourly wages have risen by 3.8%. For private sector production and non-management employees, the wage went up by 8 cents, or 0.3%, to $31.53 in September.

Trump’s push to deport illegal immigrants is reportedly contributing to higher average wages and lower rents, which could address ongoing affordability issues in the coming months.

Furthermore, Vance mentioned that the greater adoption of robotics and automation could lead to higher wages for American workers.

“There’s evidence that embracing robotics and technology could raise everyone’s wages and improve lives,” Vance remarked on Fox News. He elaborated:

“There are specific strategies for enhancing productivity and fostering economic growth. The Democratic Party’s approach has been ‘Import low-wage immigrants!’ and I believe that negatively impacts construction jobs and the wages of many blue-collar workers.”

“They seemed to think that getting richer meant bringing in more low-paid workers, which I feel has actually hurt prosperity as it leaves many blue-collar workers struggling.”

“But if we harness technology to support blue-collar workers, with robots and automation, I believe their wages will improve, and the overall economy will benefit.”

President Trump advocates for increasing automation and robotics as a substitute for immigration.

Conversely, Democratic leaders continue to push for more low-wage immigrants. After President Joe Biden’s welcome of at least 15 million immigrants has, in some cases, led to the exclusion of young Americans from the economy.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz expressed to a Texas audience on November 13, “I don’t think immigration is the cause of declining wages.” He further stated that while the immigration system could be improved, he believes immigrants enhance the country.

“We should encourage that, and we should want that,” Walz concluded.
