Alex Rodriguez shares unusual thoughts on his relationship with Cameron Diaz in docuseries

Rodriguez Reflects on Diaz Relationship in Docuseries

In a recent episode of his docuseries, Alex Rodriguez took a moment to think back on his intense relationship with Cameron Diaz.

While discussing the New York Yankees’ 2009 World Series win, an old photo of him with Diaz flashed on screen. “I feel like the World Series has come and gone,” said the former MLB player, now 50. “I was at the pinnacle of my baseball career.”

He mentioned that “a lot happened” in his life after that championship, noting, “There was a lot going on at the time.”

Rodriguez chose not to elaborate on his romance with Diaz, which began in the spring of 2010. They publicly acknowledged their relationship in June the following year.

They dated until 2011, and during the episode, a nostalgic image of the pair was shown again.

Diaz, who is now married to Benji Madden, had once described their relationship by saying, “All I want from him is happiness. All he wants is my happiness.” She emphasized that their happiness wasn’t dependent on each other.

After their breakup in September 2011, Rodriguez referred to Diaz as “one of the greatest human beings,” adding that she brought a kind of light he had never experienced before.

This wasn’t the first time Rodriguez’s complicated love life was discussed on “Alex vs. ARod.” In a prior episode, he and ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis reflected on the reasons for their marriage’s end, including rumors about his involvement with Madonna. While he did not confirm those rumors, Rodriguez acknowledged that he “could have been more faithful” during his marriage.

“In retrospect, I could have been a better husband,” he admitted. “I could have been more present… I could have been more sympathetic, empathetic, whatever.” He described baseball as an “escape” from his personal challenges.

Scurtis shared that she felt a “sense of liberation” after their divorce, which came after six years of marriage. “At the same time, he was so upset that it affected me,” she noted. Their divorce was finalized in 2008, and they have since co-parented their two daughters, Natasha, 21, and Ella, 17.
