Paul Skeens Enjoys Offseason in Hawaii

Paul Skeens was recently spotted in Hawaii with Libby Dunn, enjoying some downtime during the offseason. They were seen at a resort in Kauai, reportedly celebrating the wedding of his Pirates teammate Jared Jones and his partner, Riley Fox.

The couple appeared to be having a good time, relaxing by the pool before later taking a drive around in a golf cart.

This vacation comes just days after the 23-year-old Skeens won the National League Cy Young Award for the first time in his career, doing so unanimously. He is the first player to earn the award since Sandy Alcantara in 2022.

Upon receiving the award, Skeens reflected on its significance. “It’s one thing to win an award, but it’s another thing to have a unanimous decision,” he shared. “That’s pretty special. Every baseball fan knows what the Cy Young Award represents.” He also mentioned the importance of perspective: “Win or no win, it doesn’t change the season I had. We’re playing this game because we love it—pitching and winning are what drive us.”

In a standout season with the Pirates, Skeens made 32 starts, achieving an impressive 1.97 ERA and striking out 216 batters over 187 and two-thirds innings pitched. Still, despite his individual success, the team struggled to a 10-10 record, which reflects the Pirates’ overall disappointing finish in the National League Central Division.

Skeens has expressed that losing is, well, tough, and it’s something he isn’t used to. “It’s a big adjustment,” he shared during a recent interview. “I came from Air Force, the winningest organization, and I was heading to LSU to win a national championship. The past two years in Pittsburgh have been challenging—losing streaks can wear on you.”

Yet, Skeens remains optimistic, saying that the thought of winning energizes him. “It’s about being professional and focused. What if we won? That’s what gets me out of bed every day.”
