Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Los Angeles Rams Preview

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are gearing up for a matchup against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday night, traveling to the West Coast as a seven-point underdog. The Rams will miss tight end Tyler Higbee, while the Bucs will be without running back Bucky Irving. However, it seems likely that wide receiver Chris Godwin will return this week.

This game features some notable players in the DFS arena, including Matthew Stafford, Baker Mayfield, as well as Puka Nacua, Kyren Williams, Davante Adams, and Emeka Egbuka. These athletes form the core of their respective teams’ offenses, particularly for the Rams.

It’s worth mentioning that the Buccaneers’ defense has had its struggles, both against the pass and the run. This may influence how the game unfolds, considering the Rams are positioned as favorites. While Mayfield has shown he can lead the offense effectively, it remains to be seen how they’ll perform if they fall behind.

Below, we outline some of the top DFS picks for this Sunday night matchup.

Emeka Egbuka, WR, Buccaneers (FLEX $9,800, CPT $14,700)

With Godwin back, Egbuka might feel some relief, though I really doubt Godwin will hog all his targets. Egbuka has consistently seen nine or more targets over the last four games. Given the Bucs might find themselves on the defensive this week, I expect a high volume of passes aimed his way. That’s pretty much the goal when you’re aiming to play a leading receiver.

Puka Nacua, WR, Rams (FLEX $12,800, CPT $19,200)

Nacua has established himself as a reliable option, which is likely why many will feature him in their lineups. His performance has been solid, but just how effective will he be? The Buccaneers’ defense is among the bottom eight in points allowed to wide receivers this season, particularly when you account for scheduling. Plus, there’s plenty of motivation in prime time. Adding Davante Adams on FanDuel would definitely boost scoring potential. We know Nacua has high upside, and while there’s room for manipulation in lineups, letting him go unchecked could hurt.

Kyren Williams, RB, Rams (FLEX $12,000, CPT $18,000)

Williams is an intriguing pick. While many think the Buccaneers excel in run defense, stats show their running game has been vulnerable. They’ve allowed the ninth-most fantasy points to running backs, and adjusting for opponents, that places them even higher on the list. Although Williams shares touches with Blake Collum, he still sees a large share of carries and goal-line opportunities. If the Rams take early control, Williams might just lead the fantasy scoring for the night.

Cade Otton, TE, Buccaneers (FLEX $5,800, CPT $8,700)

Godwin’s return could slightly diminish Otton’s target share, but it might also free up WR Sterling Shepard a bit more. The Rams’ defense has struggled against tight ends—just last week, AJ Varner logged ten receptions. If they follow a similar strategy, Otton could find himself receiving more targets and holding a significant role as Mayfield’s safety net when other options are unavailable.

Colby Parkinson, TE, Rams (FLEX $4,000, CPT $6,000)

Parkinson is set to step up as the leading tight end now that Higbee is sidelined. He’s scored in the last two games, and considering his price is still quite low, this is an appealing option. As a strong red zone target, he should see extended play time this week.

Chris Godwin Jr., WR, Buccaneers (FLEX $5,400, CPT $8,100)

Godwin has faced setbacks with injuries, yet he has the potential to take on a larger role, similar to how he performed after recovering from a prior ankle issue. In his return during Week 4, he had ten targets against the Eagles, although his execution was not great—just three catches for 26 yards. Still, Mayfield appears to trust him, and if his snap count remains normal, he should participate actively in the offense.
