FBI Determines That Trump's Would-Be Assassin in Butler Acted Independently

FBI officials announced on Thursday that the individual who attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, acted independently, according to reports.

This conclusion was reached after a thorough global investigation, during which authorities indicated they explored every possible avenue, as reported by Fox News.

The outlet interviewed FBI Director Kash Patel, Deputy Director Dan Bongino, and several senior officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the investigation.

Patel mentioned that his team has been focused on this case since taking charge of the agency. He noted, “We had to uphold the chain of command to President Trump and remind everyone that he was one of the victims that day. There are victim rights rules that apply to him, regardless of his position.”

“As part of our responsibility to the victims, we thoroughly briefed the president at the White House and shared all the investigation details. He expressed satisfaction with the outcome,” Patel added.

The suspect was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who reportedly had an interest in “furs” and preferred using “they/them” pronouns.

Video footage captured the moment a gunshot echoed during the election rally.

In the aftermath, President Trump sustained a gunshot wound to his ear, leaving him bloodied. Tragically, one bystander was killed, and two others were seriously injured before U.S. Secret Service agents intervened, ultimately killing the assailant.

Later, Trump reflected on the assassination attempt, feeling that divine intervention had saved him.

According to a Breitbart News article, “Corey Comperatore, a husband, father, and Pennsylvania firefighter, lost his life while trying to shield his wife and daughter from the gunfire. Two others, James Copenhaver, 74, and David Dutch, 57, were also hurt during the attack on President Trump.”

Despite the chaos, Trump demonstrated resilience and eventually returned to Butler.

The Fox report indicated that Patel, Bongino, and the officials aimed for complete transparency regarding the investigation, amidst various theories circulating about the incident.

“We’ve meticulously reviewed this case multiple times and examined every detail. We’ve engaged with the family and the president, and there’s no cover-up here. There’s no motive or reason,” Bongino stated.

The case is now listed as “pending, inactive,” and authorities intend to follow up on any credible leads that may arise.
