Dallas Cowboys’ Comeback Fueled by George Pickens
George Pickens once again proved instrumental for the Dallas Cowboys, showcasing his talent during a thrilling comeback against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
With a noteworthy performance, Pickens recorded nine receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown. His contributions extended the Cowboys’ final drive, ultimately setting the stage for kicker Brandon Aubrey’s decisive 42-yard field goal. Remarkably, Dallas rallied from a 21-0 deficit in the second quarter to secure a 24-21 victory.
After joining from the Pittsburgh Steelers during the offseason, Pickens has made quite an impact. The Cowboys traded for him, giving up a 2026 third-round and a 2027 sixth-round draft pick. It seems this acquisition is paying off handsomely for the team.
Team owner Jerry Jones emphasized Pickens’ significance, saying, “George is an integral part of our story; he has his story, and to some extent it’s our story. I’m very proud of him, as is everyone on this team. He’s certainly made a difference over the last two weeks.” It’s pretty clear that his role is evolving into something special.
Jones expressed hopes of retaining Pickens beyond the 2026 season, sharing his pride in what the player has achieved. “It’s beyond what we expected,” he added thoughtfully. Pickens has already surpassed his previous career highs this season, with 67 receptions and eight touchdown catches to his name. He’s also nearing a new milestone in receiving yards, currently sitting at 1,054, just shy of his record of 1,140 with the Steelers in 2023.
As it stands, Dallas holds a record of 5-5-1 and ranks first in receiving yards while sitting fourth in total points scored. It seems like the Cowboys’ offensive strategies are aligning well, thanks in large part to players like Pickens.
