Shedeur Sanders Named Starting Quarterback for Cleveland Browns

Shedeur Sanders will take on the starting quarterback role for the Cleveland Browns in their upcoming Week 13 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, as announced by head coach Kevin Stefanski on Monday.

Initially, Stefanski appeared hesitant about giving Sanders a starting position. However, after some consideration, the two-time Coach of the Year made the decision to go with him.

“Obviously, a quarterback’s No. 1 job is to win,” Stefanski commented to reporters. “We were thrilled to get his first win. The focus now is on growth. Young players, particularly young quarterbacks, need to keep improving. It’s about getting better, and that takes effort.”

In the Browns’ 24-10 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, Sanders had some standout moments, though he completed only around 55 percent of his passes. Notably, he delivered a 66-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Sampson that helped secure the win.

Stefanski pointed out that the offense “generally” did well, expressing confidence in Sanders’s ability to adapt to the fast pace of the NFL.

Sanders himself is determined to silence his critics. “Everyone starts from a different place,” he said. “We didn’t have the summer squad because, well, not everyone’s in the best situation to be ready. But that’s life. No excuses. You need to perform. There’s no choice. A lot of people want to see me fail, but that’s just not going to happen.”

The Browns drafted Sanders from Colorado in the fifth round, and he has since climbed the depth chart during the regular season.
