Shedeur Sanders Achieves Victory and Sets Records in First NFL Game

Quarterback Shedule Sanders marked a significant milestone in his career this Sunday, starting his NFL journey at 1-0 after the Cleveland Browns triumphed over the Las Vegas Raiders, finishing 24-10.

Sanders connected on 11 of 20 passes for 209 yards, throwing for one touchdown and one interception. He’s now made history as “the first Browns rookie quarterback since 1995 to win in his initial start.”

His first touchdown pass was credited to running back Dylan Sampson, who sprinted 66 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, extending the lead to 24-3.

The Browns also leaned on rookie running back Quinshon Judkins early in the game, who set the pace during the first quarter.

Judkins managed to score two touchdowns that quarter, with the second one coming off a 52-yard pass from Sanders to Isiah Bond, which would have been Sanders’ first touchdown pass had Darnay Holmes not intervened just before they reached the end zone.

In comparison to his debut last week, when he stepped in for the concussed starter Dillon Gabriel, Sanders showed marked improvement, having recorded 16 hits, 4 completions for 47 yards, and one interception.

As noted, Sanders was selected by the Browns in the fifth round, 144th overall, despite being thought of as a promising talent after a solid collegiate season at the University of Colorado.

Sports analyst Boomer Esiason suggested that NFL executives “sabotaged” his draft prospects due to perceived arrogance and doubts about his eligibility.

“When you hear this kid assert right before a game or at the combine that if you want to introduce a new culture in the locker room, I’m your guy, I can change things, I think he has a lot of self-confidence—which, um, makes some coaches and general managers quite uncomfortable,” Esiason stated on his WFAN show.

“I’m telling you, and from what I gathered by speaking with three league insiders, he was removed from consideration. They were told by the owners, ‘Get rid of him; we don’t want that guy. We don’t need someone who’s highly qualified on our roster.’ And honestly, I can’t blame them,” he continued.

Since the NFL draft, Shedule Sanders has enjoyed robust support from fans, even achieving best-seller status with his rookie jersey.
