Judge dismisses indictments against Comey and James

Federal judge dismisses charges against James Comey and Letitia James

A federal judge ruled on Monday to dismiss indictments against both James Comey and Letitia James, indicating that the charges were not valid, given they were pursued by unqualified U.S. attorneys.

Judge Cameron Curry unexpectedly dropped the false statement accusations against Comey, along with the bank fraud charges against James, though further prosecution is still a possibility.

“I conclude that the Attorney General’s effort to appoint Mr. Harrigan as the interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia is ineffective and that Mr. Harrigan has unlawfully held that position since September 22, 2025,” Curry stated.
