A recent video captures the moment police apprehended Morgan Geyser, a fugitive known for her involvement in a notorious stabbing case. She seemed to be distressed about her separation from her older transgender companion, expressing that she had “done something wrong.”
Body camera footage reveals Geyser, now 23, hesitating to disclose her identity to a police officer at a truck stop in Posen, Illinois. This encounter occurred just a day after she escaped from a nursing home situated over 250 miles away in Wisconsin.
“I did something wrong, but she didn’t,” Geyser says, referring to her companion, Chad “Charlie” Mecca, 43, whom law enforcement referred to as “he.”
Despite her claims of wrongdoing, Geyser insistently asserted, “It can’t be that serious,” as one officer tried to reassure her, unaware of Geyser’s past—at 12, she had infamously stabbed a classmate in a chilling attempt to please the fictional entity Slender Man, later cutting off her ankle monitor to escape.
In a tense moment, Geyser was reluctant to provide her name, stating, “I did something really bad,” while avoiding direct acknowledgment of her history. An officer tried to clarify her identification, and eventually, another officer provided paper for Geyser to write her name and birth date.
Geyser also expressed concern for Mecca, stating, “I promise she didn’t know,” as she attempted to approach him but was halted by police. Emotionally, she urged Mecca to say goodbye, fearing they might never see each other again. “No, I won’t… because I did something wrong. Let me say goodbye,” she insisted.
In a later clip, the pair was seen being handcuffed and taken to a police station, Geyser wearing pink socks adorned with heart patterns. Mecca, who appeared disheveled in a mug shot, explained to police that Geyser cut off her ankle monitor and fled because the group home prevented her from visiting him.
Mecca maintained, “At the end of the day, I followed what I thought was right, and I stand by that,” though the police used male pronouns for him while Geyser identified him as transgender. Following their encounter, Mecca received a citation for trespassing and interfering with identification.
Flashback to 2014, Geyser and her friend Anissa Weir, both just 12 years old, lured a sixth-grade girl to a park in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where they stabbed her 19 times in a horrific effort to impress others with the mythos of the Slender Man character from an online horror culture.
