Baltimore Ravens Turnaround
The Baltimore Ravens started their bye week facing a tough situation: 1 win and 5 losses after just six games. Their playoff aspirations seemed almost non-existent at that point.
Fast forward to now, and the Ravens have won five consecutive games. They’re sitting at the top of the AFC North and will take on the Cincinnati Bengals at home on Thanksgiving night.
Historically, only a handful of NFL teams have managed to recover from a 1-5 start to make the playoffs, yet the Ravens are in a solid position to continue their winning streak.
Ravens All-Pro left tackle Ronnie Stanley mentioned there’s really no secret to turning things around. He emphasized the importance of sticking to their standards and identity. He also touched upon this year’s “My Cause My Cleats” initiative, which supports K9s For Warriors and his foundation.
Stanley’s sentiments align with those of teammate Kyle Hamilton, who, after Baltimore’s sixth-loss against the Los Angeles Rams, conveyed that while they were not where they wanted to be, optimism was still present. He believed the team could shift its fortunes and noted the collective disappointment from players and fans.
With 11 more games left on the schedule, Hamilton understood the necessity of a strong reset during their bye week. For the Ravens, this break couldn’t have come at a better time. Star quarterback Lamar Jackson, who had been sidelined, is now healthy again, leading the offense during this winning stretch.
However, even with Jackson back, the offense still has room for improvement. Stanley acknowledged that while they are winning, there’s more to be done to keep playoff hopes alive. Jackson’s singular focus, according to Stanley, is about winning the Super Bowl, which drives the entire team forward.
Looking ahead, the Ravens are gearing up for a short week before facing the Bengals. This matchup is particularly significant, as Joe Burrow is expected to return from his turf toe injury, which could alter the dynamics of their game, especially since they haven’t met on the field yet this season.
Stanley anticipates a physically demanding game, highlighting the intensity that comes with division rivalries. He also participated in the NFL’s “My Cause My Cleats” initiative, raising awareness for the K9s for Warriors organization. This program pairs service dogs with veterans, and Stanley has been actively involved in telling the stories of veterans who benefit from these service dogs.
In his interactions, Stanley was deeply moved by the personal stories of local veterans he met, learning about their struggles and how these canine companions positively impacted their lives.
For Stanley, it was a perfect blend of his passions, connecting his foundation’s mission with the veterans’ journeys, reflecting on the impact of service dogs on mental health and recovery.
