Trump is said to have urged Paramount to produce 'Rush Hour 4'

Rush Hour 4 to be Distributed by Paramount Pictures

Paramount Pictures is set to handle the distribution of “Rush Hour 4” following news that President Donald Trump personally encouraged the revival of the franchise. The film will feature Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, reprising their roles, alongside series director Brett Ratner.

This announcement comes after reports indicated that Trump had been in discussions with David Ellison, son of Paramount’s owner, about the future of this beloved buddy-cop series. It seems that the former president has an interest in reviving popular action and comedy films from the late 1980s and 1990s, including fondness for the Jean-Claude Van Damme film “Bloodsport.”

An insider revealed that Trump expressed his desire for another Ratner project, specifically pushing for “Rush Hour,” which is known for its mix of martial arts, humor, and cultural commentary.

Attempts to get comments from both the White House and Paramount have been made, but responses have not yet been received. Ratner, incidentally, has previously worked with the Trump family, having directed a documentary about Melania Trump that is set to debut around the 2025 inauguration.

Arthur M. Sarkisian, producer of the earlier “Rush Hour” films, recently released a documentary that aimed to offer a fresh viewpoint on Trump through various interviews, which might hint at a broader strategy involving nostalgic media.

Interestingly, both Chan and Tucker have maintained a relatively supportive stance toward Trump over the years, contrasting with some other elements of the entertainment industry. Chan once encouraged Americans to give Trump a chance, highlighting a more optimistic view during Trump’s initial presidential run.

In light of the upcoming film, it’s clear that the influences of Hollywood and politics often intertwine in unexpected ways. The anticipation for “Rush Hour 4” certainly seems to reflect a combination of nostalgia and the unique cultural moments surrounding Trump’s presidency.
