NFL’s Black Friday Tradition Continues
The NFL is set to feature games on Black Friday for the third year in a row, adding excitement for football fans. This year’s matchup will see the Chicago Bears face off against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, starting at 3:00 PM ET. Both teams come into the game with impressive 8-3 records. The broadcast will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, and interestingly, fans don’t even need an account to tune in.
Al Michaels will take on the role of play-by-play announcer, while Kirk Herbstreit will provide analysis. Kaylee Hartung will report from the sidelines, making for a star-studded broadcast.
Historically, the first Black Friday game took place between the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets, where the Dolphins claimed victory with a score of 34-13. In the previous year, the Kansas City Chiefs triumphed over the Las Vegas Raiders 19-17, marking them as the first team to secure a spot in the playoffs for 2024.
The Bears have been on a winning streak, having secured victories in their last four games, and are now gearing up for a crucial NFC clash. Their head coach, Ben Johnson, has effectively guided quarterback Caleb Williams in his second NFL season.
Williams, who was the first overall pick in the 2024 draft, has played in 11 games this season. He has completed 59.2% of his passes for a total of 2,568 yards, 16 touchdowns, and only four interceptions. Additionally, he has rushed for 293 yards and three touchdowns. In a recent victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, he notably threw for three touchdowns without any interceptions, completing 19 of 35 passes for 239 yards.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are trying to shake off a tough loss against the Dallas Cowboys, where they squandered a 21-0 lead. Running back Saquon Barkley has struggled to replicate his stellar form from last season. In the last game, he managed just 22 yards on 10 carries, alongside a significant fumble.
Last season, Barkley emerged as a powerhouse, rushing for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns, but this year has been a different story. He has only accumulated 684 yards and four touchdowns across 11 games, averaging less than half of his previous performance with only 62.2 rushing yards per game.
On another note, while the Eagles’ offense has faced challenges under new offensive coordinator Kevin Pattullo, their defense has been remarkable. Coordinated by Vic Fangio, they’ve allowed the fewest points per game this season. In contrast, the Bears’ offense is among the league’s top, scoring an average of 26.3 points per game, promising an exhilarating matchup.
This game carries significant playoff implications, with both teams vying for prime seeding in the NFC.
