Dwayne Johnson Roasts Draymond Green at Netflix Comedy Special
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took a comedic turn on Sunday night during Netflix’s “The Roast of Kevin Hart.” The WWE star wowed the audience with a memorable entrance before quickly targeting NBA player Draymond Green, focusing on his name.
“Draymond, that’s your name, right? That’s my boy,” Johnson started off. “I was thinking about this. Of all the cool black names you can have, that’s the laziest black name I’ve ever heard, because all you did was put a ‘D’ in front of Raymond.” He then added, “And on top of all that, your team got bounced out of the playoffs.”
Johnson humorously suggested, “So, what I’m saying is, because you’re my son and I love you, maybe it’s time to retire.”
Green isn’t often the subject of roasts, so Johnson’s comments elicited some laughs from the crowd. Green later joined Pete Davidson and Jeff Ross on stage, clearly taking the light-hearted jabs in stride.
However, Green has made it clear that he’s not considering retiring from the league anytime soon. He expressed, “I hope I’ve done enough to still be here, because at the end of the day, if I haven’t done enough, I don’t want to be here,” during a previous interview.
He emphasized the importance of his contributions to the team beyond just gameplay, saying, “It’s not just a game, right? That’s leadership, bringing young people together and helping move the organization forward.” He seems ready to see how things unfold in the future, reflecting on an incredible career thus far.
Selected by Golden State in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft, Green is a four-time NBA Champion and a four-time All-Star. During the 2025-26 season, he participated in 68 games, averaging 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists.
