Doncic Questions NBA Cup Court Safety After Lakers’ Win

In a recent game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers made some interesting remarks regarding the NBA Cup courts. Following the Lakers’ 135-118 victory, he expressed concerns about the surface being “dangerous.”

Doncic had a standout performance, scoring 43 points, alongside 13 assists and nine rebounds. However, he took issue with the distinctive coat of the court that differentiates NBA Cup games from regular ones, claiming it contributes to unsafe playing conditions.

“Adjust your court,” Doncic stated. “It’s slippery. It’s dangerous. … I’ve slipped a lot. I’ve seen a lot of guys slip. It’s dangerous, dude.”

This match marked the Lakers’ first NBA Cup game at Crypto.com Arena after a series of away games. Interestingly, Doncic couldn’t recall if the court was similarly slippery during their previous matchups against the New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies.

“I think it’s a new court, so it’s a little tough,” he mentioned, suggesting that it might improve with more games played on it.

The Lakers’ win improved their record to 13-4, placing them tied for second in the Western Conference. They’ve now clinched three consecutive victories in the NBA Cup, successfully advancing to the quarterfinals.
