Travis Turner, a missing football coach from Virginia, has been removed from his high school’s website after authorities revealed he was the subject of an investigation involving multiple charges, including child pornography and solicitation of a minor.
At 46, Turner had garnered significant respect at Union High School, especially for leading the football team, the Union Bears, through an undefeated season. However, that admiration has quickly turned to silence as news broke that law enforcement issued ten warrants for his arrest tied to allegations of child sexual abuse.
Interestingly, his profile has vanished entirely from the school’s website, despite his long tenure there of 11 years as a soccer coach and physical education teacher. The only reference to him is his son, Bailey Turner, another staff member; notably, there is no listing for a head varsity football coach currently.
Turner’s sudden disappearance from his home in Appalachia occurred last Thursday, right as investigators were closing in. He was placed on paid leave the very next day.
This week, authorities revealed the issuance of ten warrants, with five related to child pornography possession and five for soliciting a minor via computer, all amidst extensive searches utilizing drones and K-9 units.
The school has acknowledged the situation, stating, “The individual remains on administrative leave and is not permitted to enter school grounds or have contact with students.”
Leslie Turner, Travis’s wife, has publicly defended him, asserting, “None of that is true. He’s a good father and a good husband,” when speaking to MailOnLine.
Turner comes from a lineage of football coaching; his father, Tom Turner, also coached at Union High School and earned All-American honors during his collegiate career.
This incident isn’t an isolated event for Union High School; it was reported that in 2023, another employee, Timothy Lee Meador, pleaded guilty to child solicitation and is currently a registered sex offender in the area.
