U.S. Army Secretary Calls for Action Against Cartels
Secretary of the Army, Pete Hegseth, has made a clear statement urging for a more aggressive stance against cartel activities, suggesting that the U.S. is “just beginning to kill narco-terrorists.” His comments emphasize a shift in the approach towards transnational drug cartels, advocating for treating them like foreign terrorist organizations and engaging military measures to confront them.
In a straightforward post on social media Friday night, Hegseth declared with confidence: “We have just started killing narco-terrorists.”
Shortly after, he criticized what he referred to as “fake news” media for generating “more fabricated, inflammatory and derogatory reporting” aimed at undermining the efforts of those fighting to protect the nation.
Reiterating the Trump administration’s stance, Hegseth emphasized that the operations are aimed at “lethal, kinetic attacks” against narco-terrorists. He stated, “The intent is to interdict deadly drugs, destroy drug ships, and kill narco-terrorists who are poisoning the American people.” He made it clear that those who have been targeted are part of designated terrorist organizations.
Hegseth affirmed that the order to target these individuals “is a lawful order based on both U.S. and international law,” noting that all actions taken are consistent with the laws of armed conflict.
He criticized the current administration’s more cautious approach, claiming it has allowed for a surge of dangerous cartel activities and uncontrolled inflow of unvetted individuals into communities. Hegseth remarked, “The Trump administration closed the border and launched an attack on narco-terrorists. Biden coddled the terrorists. We will kill them.”
