Missing American cruise passenger Ann Evans located after island tour

A woman from the U.S. who went missing while on a Holland America cruise in Marigot, St. Maarten, has been located. The Sint Maarten Police Service (KPSM) confirmed her discovery in a Facebook post, stating that Anne Evans was found after being reported missing on November 20.

KPSM coordinated efforts with various partners to reach Mr. Evans. According to authorities, she did not return to the Rotterdam cruise ship at Port Saint Maarten after getting off a bus during an organized tour earlier this month.

“During the tour, Mr. Evans exited the bus in Marigot, on the French side of Saint-Martin but did not come back to the bus or the cruise ship,” the police detailed in a statement.

Both the French and Dutch police sides of the island were alerted regarding Evans’ disappearance.

A woman resembling Evans used her passport to check into a hotel on the French side and has reportedly been seen around the hotel, according to local news reports.

It’s worth noting that a similar situation happened in September, involving a 47-year-old American woman who also didn’t return to her cruise ship while docked in Bonaire. Sadly, she remains missing.

Law enforcement has indicated that not all missing persons cases conclude with clear answers, and some may never be fully explained. They have decided against releasing further details on Evans’ situation, citing privacy laws. KPSM stated, “In accordance with laws governing privacy and protection of personal data, no additional information about individuals or their circumstances will be released.”
