Anthony Albanese Marries Jodie Haydon
Anthony Albanese has married his partner, Jodie Haydon, in a private ceremony, making him the first sitting Australian prime minister to wed while in office.
The wedding had been anticipated for some time, as Albanese proposed to Haydon on Valentine’s Day last year. Although many expected a celebration, the specific date and arrangements were kept under wraps.
The couple exchanged vows in a small ceremony at The Lodge in Canberra, surrounded by family and close friends, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
In a statement, Ms. Haydon expressed, “I am so happy to share our love and commitment in front of family and friends, spending the rest of our lives together.”
Haydon has supported Albanese at various events, including during his 2022 election campaign and when his Labor Party secured a significant victory in May this year.
For the occasion, Ms. Haydon wore a dress designed by the Sydney-based label Romance is Born, while Albanese chose a suit from MJ Bale.
During the ceremony, Haydon’s five-year-old niece Ella took on the role of flower girl, and their dog, Toto, was the ring bearer.
Guests enjoyed beer served in special cans from Willie the Boatman, a brewery located in Sydney’s Inner West.
After the vows, the couple walked down the aisle to Stevie Wonder’s classic, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours),” and their first dance featured Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight.”
Following the wedding, Albanese and Haydon plan to honeymoon in Australia, from Monday to Friday next week, with personal coverage of all expenses.
