Kelly Dodd’s Family Feud Heats Up
Kelly Dodd has found herself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, this time due to leaked voice notes she sent to her 19-year-old daughter, Jolie. The situation escalated when Kelly seemingly threatened to make public an embarrassing audio recording involving her daughter.
Kelly, known for her role in The Real Housewives of Orange County, shares Jolie with her ex-husband Michael Dodd. The couple divorced in 2017 after over a decade together, and following their separation, things got particularly nasty between them. Kelly once referred to a brief period of co-parenting harmony in 2021 as a “miracle,” but that peace didn’t last long.
By 2022, the tension flared up again. Kelly claimed that Jolie, who is currently studying in Paris, “blocked me on everything.” In an attempt to reach out, she sent a voice note to one of Jolie’s friends, hoping he would share it with her. Instead, the friend decided to go live on social media while engaging in some vaping, ultimately making the voice note go viral during Thanksgiving weekend.
In the leaked audio, Kelly expressed her frustration towards Jolie, accusing her of siding with Michael. She even threatened to release a recording of Jolie reportedly yelling at her father about not taking her on vacation and not buying her a car.
“Jolie blocked me on everything, so I’d like you to forward this message to her. Please do that. Jolie, you’ve just opened Pandora’s box,” Kelly stated in the note.
She continued, “I have recordings of you yelling at your father for not taking you on trips and for not buying you a car. Remember those recordings I saved? I have them, and I’m going to release them publicly. Do you get that?”
Kelly then expressed her contributions to Jolie’s life, listing the financial support she had provided, like buying her a car and paying for her college tuition. Following that, she made disparaging comments about Michael’s past relationships, suggesting that he prioritized other children over Jolie.
Even though she didn’t mention anyone directly, Kelly had previously referred to Michael’s girlfriend, Laura White, as an “amazing stepmom” in 2021.
The tone of the voice messages grew harsher, with Kelly telling Jolie, “What you just did is going to make you look stupid, you stupid little girl.” She even brought up criminal defense attorney Cameron Talley, implying he was mocking Jolie.
After the messages went viral, Kelly started sharing Instagram stories posted by fan accounts, one of which criticized Jolie as “the worst.” One particular post read, “If you feel sorry for Jolie, she clearly doesn’t have a teenage daughter—she’s not complaining about her luxuriously furnished apartment in Paris and her mom’s tuition.” The account essentially suggested that Jolie needed a reality check.
However, the fan page later softened its stance, stating, “The whole family fights and makes up, but no one should judge the love or anger of parents. It’s between her and her daughter. I wish them peace and hope they work it out.” Kelly shared this too.
Not long ago, things seemed more peaceful. In August 2024, Kelly posted a video of herself helping Jolie move into a dorm in Paris after her graduation. But by this summer, tensions reignited when Kelly’s brother, Eric Meza, claimed that Jolie had “disowned” their mother. Kelly responded by calling him a “psycho” and stated he was “full of shit.”
Since marrying Fox News personality Rick Leventhal in 2020, Kelly hasn’t commented further on the situation, but considering the ongoing drama, it appears this family feud is far from over.
