Injured National Guardsman Andrew Wolfe 'Holding On'

Update on National Guardsman Shot in D.C.

Rep. Riley Moore (R-West Virginia) shared on Saturday that one of the National Guard members injured in Wednesday’s shooting in Washington, D.C., is still fighting for his life in a hospital. National Guardsman Andrew Wolf remains in critical condition, as Moore has been in touch with his family following the incident near the White House.

Moore emphasized the family’s dedication to both West Virginia and the nation. He noted that Mr. Wolf’s father served as a deputy sheriff, and that Andrew was inspired by him to join the National Guard.

“Andy is working hard and he’s a fighter. His family has shared this with me repeatedly,” Moore stated. “What they truly desire is for everyone to keep praying. I believe in the power of prayer, and I know his parents feel the same. There are many prayer warriors watching. Please continue to pray.”

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey also mentioned on Saturday that the young man’s condition is “very serious.”

Following the attack, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, identified the two soldiers involved as 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom and 24-year-old Wolf. They had been sworn in less than a day before the incident.

According to Pirro, the shooter, Rahmanullah Rakanwal, 29, who originally hails from Afghanistan, was allowed entry into the U.S. under a program initiated by former President Joe Biden, and he opened fire on the Guardsmen near the Farragut West subway station.

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday night that Beckstrom had succumbed to her injuries. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi indicated that prosecutors intend to pursue the death penalty against the suspect, stating, “We will do everything in our power to seek the death penalty for this monster who should not be in this country.”
