Podcast Host Critiques Trump’s Immigration Stance
On Friday, Wajahat Ali, a podcast host and columnist, launched a pointed critique aimed at white Americans, suggesting that “brown people” are actively shaping the future of the nation. This comment came in reaction to President Trump’s recent commitment to curtail immigration from “Third World” countries.
Ali’s comments followed incidents involving West Virginia National Guard members who were assaulted at a subway station in Washington, D.C., not far from the White House. In a live stream on his Substack, he expressed that Trump’s efforts are likely to fail.
“You lost, you lost,” Ali asserted. “The mistake was letting us in in the first place, because we are brown people. I say this as someone who identifies as brown. We have a growing population—approximately 1.2 billion in India, over 200 million in Pakistan, and around 170 million in Bangladesh. And that’s just in those regions.”
“I’m not even counting expats or immigrants,” he added. “We are multiplying, and that’s the issue—you put us in this position back in 1965.”
At another moment in his tirade, Ali dismissed American culture, addressing Trump directly. He stated that Trump’s narrative is a failure, marked by blandness and a lack of flavor. “Your music is the worst,” he claimed. “That’s why kids gravitate toward Black artists. Our gatherings have better food and more vibrant music.”
In related news, two individuals, Mohammad Dawood Alokozai and Rahmanullah Rakanwar, both entered the U.S. through a Biden administration initiative designed for Afghan allies following the troop withdrawal from Afghanistan. Alokozai was arrested after posting a TikTok about making bombs, while Rakanwar is accused of fatally shooting someone and injuring another.
The previous administration’s attempts to enforce immigration laws have also met with strong pushback. For instance, protests erupted in New York City over a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation.
ICE facilities in cities like Chicago and Portland have seen increased tensions as opposition to their actions escalates. Recently, during an ICE operation in Chicago, there were reported assaults involving vehicles.
Moreover, in Dallas, a recent attack on an ICE facility resulted in two fatalities when a gunman opened fire. In Texas, incidents involving ICE have prompted serious charges against multiple individuals in connection with violent acts.
