Jacksonville Jaguars Punter Accused of Unprofessional Conduct
During a heated game on Sunday, Logan Cook, the punter for the Jacksonville Jaguars, faced accusations of making inappropriate remarks towards players from the Tennessee Titans. The incident escalated in the fourth quarter when Titans running back Julius Chesnutt claimed that Cook threatened him. This altercation followed a play where Chesnutt blocked Cook after a 47-yard return by punt returner Chaimera Dike. Although Cook suffered a concussion during the play, he managed to return briefly to punt later in the game.
With just under 12 minutes left in the match, tensions flared again as players collided on the field, leading to Cook being penalized for unnecessary roughness. In the middle of all this, Titans safety Mike Brown was ejected.
Chesnutt, reflecting on the incident after the game, expressed surprise at Cook’s comments. “I was playing hard, and he came up to me and said he was going to kill me,” Chesnutt remarked, unsure of what had triggered such a response.
It’s interesting to note that Chesnutt didn’t receive any clarification on why Cook was upset. “That was unexpected for me. I had never witnessed anything like that before,” he added.
Cook didn’t address the specific confrontation during interviews but did mention enjoying the physicality of the game. He referred to the match as “eventful,” implying it was memorable for more than just the score.
Earlier in the game, following a punt from his own end zone, Cook spoke with officials. “I might have said something that came off as rude, so I wanted to make things right,” he remarked, highlighting his desire to clear the air and understand the referee’s perspective on the play.
On Monday, Jaguars head coach Liam Cohen brushed off Chesnutt’s allegations. “I’ve probably heard that kind of phrase from players countless times,” he noted, suggesting that he didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.
Cook, who made a name for himself as a Pro Bowler last season, has been a part of the Jaguars since being drafted in the seventh round in 2018. Meanwhile, Chesnutt joined the Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2022, primarily playing on special teams.
The altercation between Cook and Chesnutt wasn’t the only notable moment in the game. Another confrontation occurred between Titans linebacker Arden Key and Jaguars offensive lineman Anton Harrison after a hit on Trevor Lawrence.
In the end, Jacksonville emerged victorious, winning the match 25-3.
